Welcome
Opensource is a word heard more and more these days. While it has many benefits, the biggest in some' opinion being not having to pay for the software, not many people are taking to it in my experience. The latter is with the focus on operating systems like linux. The main reason for not wanting to change is the misperception that we wont be able to do what we are currently doing on a windows machine. In reality however, I've found that there are lots of opensource software available that can do everything I need to do and could do on my windows machine. With that said, it is safe to assume that reason for not wanting to move to linux is simply because we do not want to change. "This is what I know, I'm in a comfort zone and do not want to struggle..."
On this site you will find some of the problems I experienced when I made the switch from windows to Ubuntu Linux. If you are new to Ubuntu and have similar problems then hopefully you'll find some answers here. The aim is not to go in depth and explain how everything works but rather to give a quick overview and more like a how to guide.
If you are new then you definitely want to check the forums as most of the knowledge here was gained by reading and spending time in the forums:
