Ubuntu and Codecs

For uBuntu 8.04, do this :


1.sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/gutsy.list -O
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list


2.wget -q http://packages.medibuntu.org/medibuntu-key.gpg -O- | sudo apt-key add - && sudo aptget
update


3.sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree sun-java6-jre sun-java6-bin sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-
fonts k3b libk3b2-extracodecs normalize-audio transcode sox vcdimager azureus k9copy mencoder
libdvdcss2 ffmpeg libxine1 libxine1-ffmpeg libxine1-gnome totem-xine w32codecs non-freecodecs
gparted lvm2 msttcorefonts tvtimesudo apt-get remove totem-gstreamer totem4.


4.sudo apt-get update


5.sudo apt-get install acroread acroread-plugins mozilla-acroread
If you dont want to struggle with codecs, not that you should, then have a look at Linux Mint.
